Application, Resume and Cover Letter Best Practices

In this session, join Museum Hue and the National Council on Public History to discover new ways to amplify your application, resume and cover letter to nail your dream role! This workshop will cover an overview of best practices for writing resumes, a cover letter tailored to your intended role in the arts, and best practices during the job application process. This session will also review sample resumes and have time for a Q&A with experts in the field. Attendees will hear from Meghan Hillman, Program Manager at the National Council on Public History, and Kathleen Powers Conti, a Public Historian and Preservation Professional, on their experiences and best tips for navigating this process. Resources and the program recording will be available following the live Zoom session.
ABOUT THE HUENIVERSITY CAREER JUMPSTART
Museum Hue’s Hueniversity Career Jumpstart is a program of virtual workshops that uplift emerging Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latinx, and all People of Color in the arts and culture field. This series is part of the next phase of HueArts NYC and NYS, responding to the need for increased professional development opportunities for current and future BIPOC arts workers. The series of workshops consist of conversations and presentations led by experts in the field who will provide insight into their career path, offering tools centering how to build a network, resume and cover letter writing, internship preparation, and more. Recordings, best practices resource guide, and informative tool-kit from each session will be available on our website. The series will culminate with an in-person networking event for participants to interact with fellow emerging arts professionals and have the opportunity to build relationships with experts in the industry. This program provides actionable next steps to support emerging arts professionals seeking guidance on how to navigate the arts and culture space. Museum Hue is committed to creating resources and programming that speak to our growing arts community. All Hueniversity Career Jumpstart programs will have video captioning and transcripts available with the release of the recording.
